Did you have a good week? I’m going to try and keep screen use to a minimum this weekend. I just started a new book (“Stolen Focus”) and I’m thinking more about how I can be present and tuned into what’s around me.

[blog] How to Create Better Products With Much Less of a Backlog. Big backlogs or bug lists are stress-inducing, and rarely worth maintaining. You’ll never get to it. This post is about keeping a tighter control on what you’re storing up to work on later.

[blog] The Serverless Illusion. There’s a lot to unpack here, but it’s a great exploration of what might make application development with managed services better.

[article] Why PHP Usage Has Declined by 40% in Just Over 2 Years. Did WordPress’s change from PHP to JavaScript change the market that much? Maybe so.

[article] How to Become a More Empathetic Listener. “Be a good listener” should be a goal for all of us, right?

[blog] 28 startups that launched at Next ’24. It’s super cool to see companies pair their announcements with our event. Many of these are building the next big thing.

[article] A Deep Dive into the HashiCorp and OpenTofu Dispute. At least pay casual attention to these open source dustups, as they have implications downstream.

[blog] Shopping for a Javascript Meta-Framework. I knew most of these, but one or two were new. It’s good to know what’s out there.

[article] Friday Forward – Navigating Turbulence. I enjoyed the points made here about how to lead during a crisis.

[blog] Cloud CISO Perspectives: 20 major security announcements from Next ‘24. It was more than just AI at our event last week, and we’ve been doing some meaningful work to improve everyone’s security posture.
