I just finished reading Stolen Focus, which is about why we’re struggling to do deep thinking nowadays. Good read. It relates to the first item I came across in my reading list today.

[article] Generative AI Is Not Going To Build Your Engineering Team For You. Tremendous post by Charity that looks at why AI shouldn’t replace “junior engineers” and why a continued focus on the team is a good bet.

[blog] This Is How To Be More Lucky: 4 Secrets From Research. I don’t really believe in “luck”, but there are definitely things to do to ensure that you’re in the right place when opportunity meets preparedness.

[blog] How Stripe’s document databases supported 99.999% uptime with zero-downtime data migrations. This is an excellent look at Stripe’s MongoDB-based database infrastructure and how they move data around.

[article] GenAI Is Leveling the Playing Field for Smaller Businesses. I see this more and more, as folks realize they can punch above their weight class by using AI in their small business.

[article] What We Learned from a Year of Building with LLMs (Part III): Strategy. This wraps up the excellent series up on O’Reilly. This one has some very solid strategic advice.

[blog] Serverless Jupyter Notebooks at Meta. Here’s a bit about the platform and integrations that Meta offers to users of it’s internal notebook service.
